Description
Covers all of the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
Cardiac arrest is a medical emergency that can lead to death. With urgent medical care to restart the heart, survival is possible.
Been able to recognise and assess a cardiac emergency, call 000 or 112 on mobile for medical assistance and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) attaching AED were possible procedures will increase the chance of survival for a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally.
Duration/delivery method
3 hours face-to-face training
Prerequisites
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor. .
Must complete the online workbook and theory assessment.
Topics covered
Respond to an emergency situation
Perform CPR procedures in line with ARC requirement
Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) appropriately
Follow the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Maintain the airway, breathing and circulation of an unconscious casualty
Communicate details of the incident
How to rotate first aiders with minimal interruptions to compressions, and what to do if the casualty regurgitates or vomits.
Assessment procedure
Assessment is at the end of the course to show the instructor that you have an appropriate understanding of the procedures necessary to mange a Life-threatening situation. There a practical demonstrations of CPR for 2 minutes.
Outcome
At the successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a statement of attainment in Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
